Mill Gardens is situated to the right of the bridge in Millgate, by the banks of the Cod Beck on the site of an old mill, it has seating and is an ideal place to watch the wildfowl.
Millgate Picnic Area, accessed from the bottom left hand corner of Millgate car park was presented to the Town Council by The Rotary Club of Thirsk, thanks must go to the generosity of Mr Bill Calvert, a local businessman who gave the land without charge.
The Market Place is now in the ownership of Hambledon Distict Council who maintain the cobbled areas, provide the street cleaner and oversee the cleanliness of the toilets. The Town Council provide the flower tubs and planters and bring to the attention of HDC/NYCC matters which need addressing.[old picture c1925] [new picture 2002]
